Fernando Alonso is returning to Formula 1 with massive expectations looming over him. However, the Spaniard has always carried the tag of not being an easy driver to work with. Is that really true? Well, Alonso himself opened up on these claims that have followed him throughout his career.
During an interview at the Abu Dhabi GP, the Renault driver revealed that only the same group of people criticized him by saying he is difficult to work with. He also added that such criticism always arrived from the ones who never worked with him.

He said, “It keeps repeating in loop by the same people that never work with me. It’s a normal statement coming from Red Bull or from someone that we are fighting with.”
People that work with me don’t have the same opinion: Fernando Alonso
Alonso pointed out that neither McLaren nor Renault have had such opinions (of being difficult to work with) on him until now.
The double world champion said, “You know, I came two times to McLaren. Third time to Renault. So, the people that work with me seem that they have not the same opinion. So that’s the only thing that matters for me. I’m a very ambitious man and I want to perform well. But you know, I’m not eating people.”

Overall, Alonso doesn’t seem to be affected by such comments from his rival teams. He is solely focused on returning to form before the commencement of the 2021 season. So far, things have panned out pretty well for the Spaniard.
As a justice to his history, Alonso returned to Renault for the third time and will race with the French team for 2021 and beyond.

Renault fought hard amid heavy opposition to provide Alonso enough time behind the wheel. Their hard work paid off, as Alonso recently took part in Abu Dhabi’s young driver test.
Over the session, he clocked the fastest lap time and is looking pacy and hungry for the 2021 season. Although it is too early to predict how Alonso’s 2021 season would take shape, it looks like the Spaniard is officially back, and the rival teams will definitely be wary of the two-time world champion’s potential threat.
