The tales of the greatness of both Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso will be told for ages. By all accounts, the legends found one more commonality in their later stages of careers: respecting, helping, and mentoring the team and reaching their peak maturity at Aston Martin. For Sebastian Vettel, it was also seen during his Ferrari days, but it certainly is a new look for Fernando Alonso.
The Spaniard has taken up a great role in the team, which has also led to his three consecutive P3 finishes so far. This hasn’t come easy, and he, for sure, has played a huge part alongside the technical staff. The two-time world champion, contrary to the belief of a strict and unfriendly persona formed due to experiences with teams, has been a force of positivity in his new team.
The team’s boss, Mike Krack, has been nothing but happy with Alonso’s contributions and credits him with driving the team’s morale higher and higher. As quoted by the BBC, the boss said, “Fernando is the first there in the morning and is the last to leave. These are little things, where as a team you realise: ‘Oh, here is someone who’s serious about what he’s doing.’ He’s infecting everybody like that,” while calling Fernando a leader, who walks the talk and leads by example.

With nearly two decades in the sport, Fernando Alonso knows the techniques to get things done. The most remarkable example was seen during the Australian GP during the restart, where we saw mayhem fall upon Albert Park. He was quick to recall the Silverstone incident and let his engineer know.
Speaking at the F1 Nation podcast and quoted by RacingNews365, former world champion Damon Hill said, “He’s invested in this, he understands it, and he knows, like Michael Schumacher as well. Michael Schumacher understood where the openings were, where the opportunities were, and he took advantage of those, and it’s the same with Fernando. He’s got to become a team boss eventually, because he’d be brilliant. He just understands this game.”
