Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso’s relationship has been topsy-turvy ever since the Briton joined F1 in 2007. In his first year in F1, Hamilton has Fernando Alonso as his teammate. However, none expected that the Briton will put up such a challenge to the 2-time championship winner. Alonso and Hamilton finished equal on points and just 1 point behind Kimi Raikkonen, who took the championship home. In a recent podcast, Alonso opposed the infamous Hamilton scandal from 2007 by spitting burning facts. What did Alonso say?

With many questionable situations and decisions included in that fight, Fernando Alonso revisits one that brought him a lot of fame. Not exactly the good one, though. Fernando Alonso, in a recent podcast, talked about the 2007 Hungary GP. Both Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton were pole challengers. During the final stop just before the lap that decided the pole, Fernando Alonso stopped in the pits for longer with Hamilton stuck behind him. With the clock ticking down, Lewis Hamilton wasn’t able to cross the line in time for a final lap.

According to the F1: Chequered Flag podcast, Fernando Alonso explained how nobody actually knows his side of the story and what exactly happened. The Spaniard said, “As you said the 2007 Hungary thing, nobody hears my version or the truth or the facts. I said that I never hold anyone. They just put me on old tires in qualifying. So there is radio transcript, there are decision from stewards which is written as a penalty in and article, which didn’t exist.”

Whatever the case may be back then, both Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton are world champions now and respect each other. In recent years, Alonso and Hamilton haven’t really been at the top or competing at a similar level. However, with Aston Stepping up, we saw an amazing spectacle between former nemesis at the Canadian GP.

Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton were last spotted in a close fight at this year’s Canadian GP. Hamilton overtook Alonso at the start but after the first rounds of pit stops, Alonso managed to overtake Hamilton with an amazing move into the final chicane. Alonso suffered some fuel system errors in the later stages of the race yet managed to stay ahead. The Spaniard reveals how Hamilton kept him on his toes and that he was pushing every single lap.

According to Formula1.com, Fernando Alonso said, “It was a battle with the Mercedes, and Lewis was pushing all the race. I didn’t have one lap where I could relax a little bit, so it was an amazing battle.”
