Fernando Alonso has been around the F1 scene for ages now. The Spaniard made his debut back in 2001. Now, over 2 decades later, he is still driving at the pinnacle of the sport. The Alpine driver has now driven the most distance in the history of the sport. He overtook Kimi Räikkönen who held the record up until now.

Alonso achieved this milestone at the British GP, where he went on to finish P5. The Spaniard has now driven 92,643Kms. The F1 posted a picture on their social media with some quirky facts about this feat.

Fernando had a hilarious reaction to this post. He replied to the picture by saying, “Let’s make it (at least) halfway to the moon.”

The driver still has a long way to go before that happens. Which can mean that he has all the plans to stay in F1.

Despite being 40, he is still going strong and making it look effortless. In the meantime, he will take massive positives from his British GP performance this weekend.

The British GP served up quite a show. From the incident with Zhou Guanyu in the opening lap to the late safety car that saw a 5 way battle for P2, every aspect of Sunday’s race kept the fans at the edge of their seat. It was a scintillating watch till the end, especially seeing Fernando fighting to be at the front of the grid.

The 2-time world champion went wheel to wheel with Perez, Leclerc, and Hamilton for a shot at the podium places in the closing stages. He narrowly missed out, finishing P5. However, he took away a lot of positives from this battle.
He said, “in the end, I’m very happy with fifth. It was a very good race pace-wise from us from the beginning.” Alonso also added, “It was probably the best race for us in the championship.”
