How Fernando Alonso is a perfect fit for Aston Martin?
In 2021, the former Racing Point F1 team saw itself rebranded into the Aston Martin. Lawrence Stroll bought the team and since day one, has talked about ambitions to win Grand Prix consistently. The team drafted a 5-year-plan to follow which includes a huge investment in the team’s infrastructure from the Canadian billionaire.

To chase its high ambitions, the team signed Sebastian Vettel in the 2021 season to bring his knowledge to a newly formed constructor. However, the partnership did not pan out, and the veteran announced his retirement mid-way through the 2022 season.
As a result, it left a seat open on the team for the 2023 season, which has now been grabbed by Fernando Alonso. The 41-year-old has raced in the pinnacle of motorsport for about 2 decades and knows his way around the block. Remarkably, he is a two-time world champion and brings invaluable expertise to a highly motivated team.

“I have watched as the team has systematically attracted great people with winning pedigrees, and I have become aware of the huge commitment to new facilities and resources at Silverstone.”
“No one in Formula One today is demonstrating a greater vision and absolute commitment to winning, and that makes it a really exciting opportunity for me.” he added.
