It’s raining hypercars and supercars at the Goodwood Festival of Speed! While the F1 world is still recovering from the amazing features that Red Bull‘s RB17 showed off at the world-class motorsports event, Aston Martin has refused to back down. But if the Silverstone team wanted to simply release a supercar with astounding specs, it wouldn’t have been enough, right? Well, to rival the RB17 with their own wondrous creation, AMR has released the Valiant – a car that is designed by the two-time F1 Champion Fernando Alonso himself.
With two Le Mans victories as well as a World Endurance Championship to his name, Fernando ‘Nando’ Alonso is no foreigner to hypercars. The Asturian has now ventured outside of the world of streamlined F1 cars to step into designing a supercar by himself. Thus, he has created a prototype for the Aston Martin Valiant, which will be a developed version of the AMR Valour. Here, it deserves special mention that Valour was the car that Aston Martin unveiled at last year’s Goodwood Festival to mark the manufacturer’s 110th year in the business.
In 2023, Fernando Alonso left Alpine to take Sebastian Vettel’s place at Aston Martin. Friends with the AMR boss Lawrence Stroll, the Spaniard has flourished with the squad as Lance Stroll’s teammate. Now, Aston Martin seems to have given Alonso a creative space too. So, he has designed a unique product at the Duke of Richmond grounds. Bringing the fight to Red Bull’s RB17, Alonso’s prototype includes plans to produce only 38 cars for all the buyers worldwide, as per a DAZN report. Thus, the Valiant, priced at $2.56 million, will be an even more exclusive car than the RB17. But what are the specs of the Fernando Alonso masterpiece that you should know about?

Fernando Alonso’s supercar pet project serves top-of-the-line specs
While Red Bull is famous as an energy drink manufacturer, the fact that it has produced a hypercar like the RB17 is a surprise in itself. However, Aston Martin is a legacy brand that is famous for producing the most luxurious of cars (in fact, who can even forget the brilliant Aston Martin cars that James Bond drives in all his movies, right?) Well, Fernando Alonso seems to have lived up to the standards set by AMR as his car serves the topmost look. It has a carbon fiber body that boasts a white color with red and blue accents.
On the other hand, the Valiant has a 5.2L V12 engine as opposed to the 15000 rpm V10 engine of the RB17. Where the Red Bull car will have the ability to give 1200 hp, the Alonso-AMR creation can provide a total power of 745 hp. Speaking on this passion project, Alonso commented, “Valiant is born from my passion for driving at the limit and I have enjoyed working closely with the Q by Aston Martin team on both the design and technical specification and believe we have created a masterpiece.”
So, Fernando Alonso seems to have donned the designer cap to build the prototype for the AMR Valiant. However, the Oviedo native cannot afford to forget he has a career in F1 that is currently under threat. Currently 9th in the Championship Standings, Alonso is 65 points away from Lewis Hamilton, who holds the eighth position right above him. To make matters more serious, Nando has failed to win a single podium this season after attaining eight of them last year. What, do you think, is holding Alonso back from displaying a great performance on the F1 race tracks? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
