Fernando Alonso has returned to Formula One with Alpine after a two-year hiatus from the sport. While he is willing hard to achieve the targets he has set for himself, he has not set a time limit for achieving those goals.
In the qualifying session on Saturday, many assumed that Alonso won’t have the pace anymore. Given that he had not been behind the wheel of an F1 car in two years, most believed that he wouldn’t be able to keep up. However, the Spaniard made it into Q3 and qualified ninth for Sunday’s race.
The dream comeback didn’t go as planned as just after 32 laps around the circuit, Alonso had to retire due to brake issues. Now he keeps his eye on the next race of the season, which is in Imola.

Fernando Alonso doesn’t look at the clock while setting his ambitions
In an interview with Sky Sports as quoted by PlanetF1. Alonso said, “It is a difficult goal for one to mark it. Formula 1, and sport in general, is not exact mathematics since you cannot plan what is going to happen. You just try to make your trip as fun as possible.”
The Spanish driver added, “At the same time, you work hard to achieve the results and to fulfil those dreams you have in your head. I try to make this comeback a good attempt to win races and be as competitive as possible, but not with a clear objective or a time limit to achieve things.”

The Maranello-based team didn’t have the best of seasons last year. The team finished 6th in the standings and only scored 131 points. However, Alonso thinks that it would difficult to fight against them this year due to the resources Ferrari have.
Speaking to Sky Sports Italia as quoted by PlanetF1, he said, “I think Ferrari this year will make a step forward because of their resources and history.I don’t think we will fight with them if so, it would be bad news for them.”
Now Alpine and Alonso set their eyes on the Italian Grand Prix coming in a few week’s time. The French-based team hopes they can score some points and make an impact in the constructor’s standings.
