Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo didn’t come close to the bromance that was promised to us. The 2023 grid is brewing with bromances like Oscar Piastri & Lando Norris. However, the most unexpected duo surprised us with the best bromance this season. The 41-year-old Fernando Alonso and the 24- year old Lance Stroll. As Aston Martin reveals shocking information after a civil tussle that takes the Bromance between the duo to the next level. What is this information?

Lance Stroll hasn’t had the easiest of the seasons this year. The Canadian has considerably underperformed his AMR23, especially when you look at the results that Fernando Alonso has bagged. While comparing Stroll to someone who has 20-odd years of F1 experience isn’t fair, he is 79 points behind Alonso. Nonetheless, the performance in the Barcelona and the Austrian Sprint saw Stroll beat his teammate.

However, this comparison dynamic hasn’t affected the teamwork between the two. There are multiple examples of both the Aston Martin drivers helping the other like Alonso sharing his bias and Stroll telling that he will not attack Alonso. It’s as if Alonso is an older brother and mentor to Lance. Nonetheless, toward the end of the Austrian GP, we did see the two Aston Martins fighting for the first time. But Lance Stroll managed to keep the wily old fox behind.

Despite the civil tussle toward the end of the sprint race, the relationship dynamic still remains the same. Stroll suggested during the race that he and Alonso should focus on overtaking the cars up ahead rather than fighting with each other. However, according to Motorsport-Total.com, there weren’t any team orders at Aston Martin. That means Alonso himself decided to stay behind Lance and let the Canadians do the overtaking. Alonso did put the pressure toward the end but Stroll managed to finish P4.

Fernando Alonso isn’t only playing the No.1 driver role at Aston Martin but also the role of Lance Stroll’s mentor. It was revealed earlier that the two talk a lot and share whatever new findings they obtain. They even talk about the setups and what might or might not work. Alonso has now come out to advise that Stroll is a great driver with a great pace but needs consistency to take a step closer to the title dream.

According to Formula1.com, Fernando Alonso said “I think Lance is showing the speed in the car, the commitment. We saw at the beginning of the year as well, racing with a broken hand and things like that; you only see [this] when you really have passion for something that you’re doing. I think, for him, the most important thing now is to get the consistency, weekend after weekend… That consistency is going to be the next step in his career, to be constantly fighting for the top five”
