However, Fernando Alonso’s controversial comment on how he believes Max Verstappen’s titles are more worthy than Lewis’s created a huge uproar amongst Hamilton fans. Mercedes boss Toto Wolff came out in defense of his star driver. Wolff, who has led Mercedes to unprecedented success labeled Fernando as a “hothead”.
As per Spanish outlet AS, Toto said, “He’s a hothead. He creates headlines, and this sport is all about headlines. They are both great world champions. Alonso is like that but I don’t think he’s upsetting Lewis one millimeter.”

Lewis started his F1 journey partnering Fernando Alonso, who was also the then reigning double world champion. The McLaren duo fought for the title in 2007. Hamilton was level on points with Alonso that year and missed out on the championship by just one point. The very next season, the Spaniard moved to Renault, and the Brit clinched his maiden championship in his second year of racing in F1.

It seems like Hamilton and Alonso have re-ignited their past rivalry this season. From their first lap crash in Spa to the latest comments made by Alonso, things have been tense between the two champions.
However, Lewis Hamilton declared that he was not too worried about Alonso’s comments. Furthermore, the 7-time champion even admitted it made him laugh a little.

During the press conference at the United States Grand Prix, Lewis said, “I don’t really have a lot to say about it.”
He further added, “It does make me giggle a little bit, to be honest, but I have tried to be really respectful over the years. For example, when you’ve ever asked me who’s been the best driver against me, I’ve given praise.”
