“I don’t know what the future holds,” Newey said. “But this summer, instead of having to travel around the world for Grands Prix, I will be able to see my family,” added the ex-Red Bull Technical Chief. So, now when he is getting the opportunity to take a break, he is utilizing it to the fullest.
Newey further noted an important point. “If you don’t win, you try to understand why, and if you win, you try to stay there.” However, despite the relentless schedule, he admitted, “Motorsport has always been in my blood.” True indeed. The past few months saw a ‘race to achieve Adrian Newey’ by Aston Martin. With Fernando Alonso in the squad and more than sufficient means to support the Brit, the Silverstone-based team would be the perfect ground for the Brit’s F1 future. Meanwhile, team owner, Lawrence Stroll raised Newey’s annual pay offer from $100 million to a whopping $125 million.
