With the number of big transfers that are to happen and are rumored to happen just as the season starts, it feels like the 2025 silly season is already underway. Max Verstappen is rumored to move to Mercedes to replace Lewis Hamilton, who is replacing Carlos Sainz Jr. at Ferrari. Sounds complicated? Not really. Not yet, at least.

The rumor mill around the driver transfers is in full swing as Aston Martin ace Fernando Alonso has teased a move to Red Bull with his latest comments. The Spaniard was spotted at the Saudi Arabia track and in a media announcement, Marca reported him saying, “There have been many rumors in the last two or three months, it is difficult to believe all of them,” as he addressed the rumors of Verstappen leaving Red Bull.

But when asked about him being a choice in Red Bull’s eyes, he said, “I do believe that I am on the list, because I do not have any contract at the moment. It is better to be on that list than on others.” With the tensions rising at the Red Bull pit, there is a possibility of Verstappen leaving. And that’s where Fernando Alonso comes in.
