The Canadian GP is this weekend’s destination for the thrills of Formula 1. This is the eighth Grand Prix of the year, but a promise made to the Tifosi seems to have not yet been fulfilled yet.  Ferrari has been experiencing its own share of problems, and to make matters worse, Charles Leclerc was recently noticed making a shocking statement. This came to light despite Ferrari team leader Frederic Vasseur’s repeated attempts to sweep problems under the rug.

Taking the stats into consideration, Charles Leclerc appears to be having his worst Formula 1 season ever. Adding on to it are the problems of Ferrari, which seem to be besting the team. Along with the ongoing pace difficulty, the squad is also dealing with the worst tire wear problem. Leclerc’s poor season continued to get worse as the 25-year-old Monegasque failed to qualify for Q2 at the Monaco Grand Prix for the first time since 2019, and later at the Spanish Grand Prix, the Ferrari driver ended 19th following a challenging qualifying session.

The Prancing Horse is at a loss for words as they have nothing to say about SF 23’s bad performance in the present scenario. This prompted Leclerc’s stunning statement, which was spurred by the fact that the team’s problem is still being investigated. In the midst of all of this, the Tifosi also had their eyes on Frederic Vasseur’s ongoing attempts to brush the problems under the rug.

The Frenchman has always supported the team and their efforts in an attempt to conceal the true issues. He had recently stated that the “concept has nothing to do visually.” in addition, his statement of optimism after the race at Barcelona like, “the upgrades introduced at the last round in Spain meant that the car behaved more consistently in the race in Barcelona.” He has frequently attempted to make everything look under control. However, that is not correct, since Leclerc’s statement has prompted certain questions.

The Monegasque remarked while talking to Sky Sports,Qualifying in Barcelona was a very particular one and I think I wasn’t the only one to struggle. We need to understand these things and for now we don’t have the reasons. This is a little bit more worrying and that’s where we need to push and try to understand the reasons of it because obviously the feeling was really bad.”

Ferrari has only achieved one podium result so far in 2023 and is now in fourth place in the constructors’ championship. As a result of recent upgrades by Aston Martin and Mercedes, the squad also appears to struggle to finish on the podium in the ensuing weeks. In the thick of this, Leclerc doesn’t expect any miracles to occur at the Canadian track.

Charles Leclerc expresses hope despite not expecting any miracles at the Canadian GP

Even though the team introduced the modifications earlier than intended, it didn’t turn out well. In fact, Leclerc’s struggles at the Spanish Grand Prix led him to label the vehicle “undrivable.” The rival of the Prancing Horse, in contrast, has made significant advancements.

All of this has caused Leclerc to believe that although the Montreal race will fit much better than Spain, the Monaco native does not anticipate huge progress. He said, “On this track we don’t have anything new so I don’t think we’ll have any miracles.”

Showing a glimpse of hope, Leclerc added saying that the team needs to utilize the package to the fullest, “We have to focus on ourselves, try to maximise our package. It’s a very challenging track and with the weather, we don’t really know which side it’s going to go. We’ll just focus on ourselves and see what we can do.”
