There is no doubt that we’re watching the history books being rewritten in the Max Verstappen era. That being said, the monotony of seeing the Dutch lion winning virtually every Grand Prix is probably getting to even the best of us! And as it turns out, even the younger audiences nowadays have had enough of just one man winning all the accolades while legends like Lewis Hamilton scrap for seconds.
The sport has made it a mission to aim the sport towards younger audiences. However, there is a gaping flaw in the plan. With the Dutch lion virtually making it impossible for anyone else to win, the charm of the sport is fizzling away for the young ones. And especially when they themselves are rooting for another driver.
Young Lewis Hamilton fan makes a teary-eyed confession

It has been a hot second or two since 7x champion, Lewis Hamilton stood on the top step of the podium. And between the last time he did and now, it’s only ever been Verstappen doing it. Naturally, for one diehard Hamilton fan, it finally became too much to take at the Belgian GP weekend.
Seeing Verstappen win once again, the young fan started sobbing inconsolably. And when asked what the problem was, he replied, “I want someone else to win, but not Verstappen.” This adorable 4-year-old fan was then prodded further to enquire who he actually wanted to win.
Is it Lando Norris? “No,” nodded the boy. Lewis Hamilton? And the kid’s miseries seemingly rushed away as he agreed to that prospect!

Truth be told, it isn’t a surprise that so many of the younger generation of fans look up to the Brit as a role model.

If there ever was a test of character in Formula 1, then it has to be the way the 2021 season ended for Lewis Hamilton. But it isn’t what happened that fateful night in Abu Dhabi that defines him. It is what he chose to do next.

Hamilton narrated his path to geeing his team back up after what was a devastating night for them, too. He told Fox Sports as saying, “You know, I’m not perfect. Some days I’m tired, I’m groggy, I’m not all there, as some people are when you just arrive to your office.”
“Showing vulnerability I think is really important, particularly as it’s a very male-dominated sport and a lot of these guys, engineers, don’t show emotion. Whether you’re on a high or a low, they’re calm. But deep down inside they can feel something, and it’s showing them it’s okay to feel that and it’s okay if you’re feeling down. ‘Share it with us; we’ll get there’.”
