He presently has 281 points, which puts him 110 points ahead of the second driver in the driver’s championship. On the F1 nation podcast, according to F1 Maximaal, Sr. Verstappen said, “He’s very focused, he loves racing. During the week, he doesn’t want anything to do with Formula 1, but when it’s the weekend, he’s there. That’s how he wants it. When he’s there, he’s focused, but when the race is over, it’s done. That’s his strength.

With their stated guiding principle of “either you win or you die,” and expectation from the motorists to be “machines” Red Bull needed a driver like Max Verstappen to end their championship drought during the Mercedes era of dominance. Alguersuari also cited how Max Verstappen’s father’s harsh measures to raise his kid prove to be a testament that Verstappen is an ideal match for Red Bull.

He said, “His (Max) father, through violence, taught him to win races. You have been trained this way. There was no happiness. They pushed him so far that they ended up making a perfect pilot.”
