Did Lewis Hamilton just say no to Ferrari? For 7 glorious decades, the scarlet red of Ferrari has decorated the sport of Formula 1. From Alberto Ascari to Michael Schumacher, the Scuderia has seen a fantastic wealth of talent propelling the Prancing Horse into the annals of F1 history. Naturally, with the legacy and esteem attached to them, it’s always a no-brainer when they come knocking. Rather, a shot at a Ferrari race seat is a golden opportunity that doesn’t come begging twice. Well, at least for us mere mortals, unlike 7x champion, Lewis Hamilton.

Ever since his debut in 2007, Hamilton has been on the radar for almost every F1 team. For many, he was a distant dream, but for Ferrari, he was a brutal wake-up call. In its infinite wisdom, the team wouldn’t have ever thought a driver could turn them down, not once, but twice!

Anthony Hamilton has played a crucial role in Hamilton’s success. After all, he was the one who struggled night and day to ensure the Brit even ever got to F1. That being said, it turns out that much of the decision-making now is out of Anthony Hamilton’s scope of services as Lewis seems to have already picked Mercedes.

As per recent reports, Anthony Hamilton was spotted in Maranello last week for “private meetings” with Ferrari.

In 2014, fresh off of championship success with Mercedes, Lewis Hamilton was once again on the radar of teams like Ferrari. Things even developed to an extent where Anthony Hamilton held talks with the Maranello-based outfit. Alas, that never materialized as the 38-year-old went on to win a grand total of 6 championships with the Silver Arrows.

And now, history has cruelly repeated itself for Ferrari.

How Hamilton made Ferrari look silly

Fast forward to 2023, Ferrari made contact with Hamilton while he was still in the middle of contract negotiations with Mercedes. Hamilton obviously chose his residence for the past 10 years.

But if we look back to 2015, the events of today won’t seem like a surprise. It would’ve felt like déjà vu for Ferrari as even back in 2015, Hamilton left the Tifosi stranded as he said, “No, don’t be silly. My contract at Mercedes should be done this week,” when asked about a potential move to Maranello.
