“Far More Positives” – Susie Wolff Contradicts Max Verstappen’s Latest Drive to Survive Accusation

Netflix’s Drive to Survive has a divided opinion among the fans and drivers. Many believe that Netflix’s lucrative documentary series has created a rivalry among drivers that are non-existent. Max Verstappen is one driver who has constantly voiced his opinion against the show.

As a result, did not take part in season 4. Even though his clash with Hamilton was the main plot, the show did not feature interviews with the Dutchman.

Meanwhile, Toto Wolff’s partner Susie also gave her thoughts regarding the series on the F1: Beyond the Grid podcast. She took part in the show as many praised her role in the series. However, contrary to Verstappen, she believes the documentary has a positive impact on the sport.

Susie Wolff gives her opinion on Drive to Survive

Susie Wolff spoke to Tom Clarkson about her career in Formula 1 and how it felt to drive an F1 car. He also asked her opinion on Netflix’s Drive to Survive. Susie revealed the series is the primary reason for the spike in interest in Formula 1, especially among women.

The Briton said, “I think first of all we need to be respectful of the fact that its has done a great, great thing for Formula 1. It’s opened Formula 1 to a wider audience. I certainly see so many more young girls and women interested in the sport because of Drive to Survive.”

She also admitted that many saw the sport as technologically advanced. As a result, some felt it was difficult to understand. However, Drive to Survive has added more ‘human element,’ according to Susie.

“I think formerly the sport was seen as something very technologically driven, whereas now there is this element of there being more human element to Formula 1, which is great because there are characters,” she added.

At the same time, the former Williams test driver also recognizes the frustration of drivers. Few of the drivers, including Max Verstappen, feel it has created unnecessary rivalries to dramatize the show. Nevertheless, Susie believes it has created a positive impact and has encouraged young people to take up the sport. And she stated that it shows the kind of pressure an F1 driver deals with.
