Being Sebastian Vettel’s final race before retirement, fans were excited for Formula 1’s veteran drivers to put on a show after the race. Excited fans wanted to see Vettel, Alonso, and Lewis Hamilton do donuts on the track post-race. However, the hopes of all three of them doing it have gone down the drain.
Fans angry with Alpine as Sebastian Vettel’s retirement show spoiled with Fernando Alonso’s DNF
Fernando Alonso started out in P10 behind his old mate Sebastian Vettel. Ahead of the race, he vowed to protect his good friend as the lights go out. As the race started, Alonso did not really have to do that as drivers remained careful around Vettel. The Spaniard, however, once again kept falling down the grid owing to car issues.
He, however, showed grit as he overtook both Yuki Tsunoda and Valtteri Bottas in a single corner in Lap 23. Tsunoda, however, retook P11 from the Alpine driver soon. Lap 28 turned out to be ominous for Fernando, as he was called into the pits to retire the car.
Here’s how fans reacted, knowing Alonso could not perform donuts with Vettel and Lewis Hamilton at the end of the race.
Matt from WTF1 could not hide his disappointment in Alpine.

Alpine are not doing a good job making new fans after today’s outing.
We just wanted to see donuts of Alonso, Hamilton and Vettel for one last time. Was that too much to ask for? I hate y'all so much https://t.co/xJsMaCOlub

One fan suggested some extreme measures. Can’t say we disagree with the suggestion though.
