NASCAR stalwart, Danica Patrick isn’t really making many fans over at Formula 1. After a relatively successful racing career, the 41-year-old Wisconsin native has switched roles to TV punditry. Now, she’s into a stint with the revered Sky network and covers the sport for Sky Sports F1. During today’s Hungarian GP Qualifying, she was right there with Nico Rosberg and even got an opportunity to interview the top 3 after the session, including an awkward conversation with pole-sitter, Lewis Hamilton.

Patrick’s interview with Hamilton after he snatched a stunning pole position from the prying hands of Max Verstappen didn’t really go down that well with the fans. While it’s no secret that the American isn’t a fan favorite among F1 enthusiasts, her sly sexual innuendo coupled with a pretty embarrassing line of questioning left the fans equal parts fuming and disappointed with the coverage.

This wasn’t the only part of the interview that has left the fans miffed. For them, Patrick exudes a sum total of zero relevance to the sport, and her knowledge quota, too, lacks. And she might not have helped her own case with the bizarre line of questioning she sent Lewis Hamilton’s way.

The question that really caught F1 fans off guard was related to the new Qualifying format the sport debuted and tested during the Hungarian GP weekend. The drivers all used the Hard compound during Q1, the Mediums during Q2, and the staple Softs during Q3. And Patrick probably missed out on the memo regarding how Pirelli always has operated within the sport!

Patrick asked Hamilton, “Was there a difference between the soft, the medium and the hard tire?” An obvious question that led to a plethora of fans bashing her for this on social media.

F1 fans were livid with the American. In between her embarrassingly sexual comments about the 38-year-old pole-sitter and her own Will Buxton moment, Patrick caught a lot of flak from the viewership of today’s event at the Hungaroring.

This is not the first time, Patrick has been trolled by F1 fans. There have been several instances during last year’s US Grand Prix and in 2023 as well when Twitterati slammed the IndyCar winner on her slip-ups or general commentary on F1.

Do you think Danica Patrick is deserving of all the hate she is getting for her Hungarian GP antics?
