Fans Celebrate Lewis Hamilton’s First Title As McLaren Crowns F1 Champ ‘the GOAT’

“Is that Glock?” is still one of the most iconic piece of commentary in the final lap of the final race. 14 years ago, Lewis Hamilton won his first-ever Formula 1 title in just his second season of racing. The then McLaren-Mercedes driver overtook Glock in the final few corners of the race to clinch the title right from Felipe Massa’s hands.

Lewis won the title in dramatic fashion, by just a single point. McLaren shared a post on their social media handles recently, celebrating that iconic win in Brazil. It remains their last F1 title to date.

Lewis Hamilton has won it all in the F1 world. The Mercedes driver has won the F1 championship 7-times, a feat matched only by Michael Schumacher. Furthermore, Hamilton also holds the record for most race wins, most podium finishes, and most pole positions, among numerous others.

To celebrate his iconic first-ever championship win, McLaren reminisced and shared a series of pictures of Lewis on their Twitter account. McLaren captioned the tweet, “Phone me in nine years, we’ll sort something out then. The rest, as they say, is history”.  

The reference to the caption is another interesting story that describes what makes Hamilton so special. The British prodigy met McLaren boss Ron Dennis when he was young and confidently addressed him that he would be driving his cars in F1. This prompted Dennis to reply with the quotes in their caption.

While Hamilton was destined for greatness since his karting days, he’d have seldom imagined winning under such dramatic circumstances. Fans shared their opinion on the GOAT of F1 after McLaren shared a post on their Twitter and Instagram accounts.

When Lewis went to race in Brazil on the final day, he needed a 5th or higher finish to clinch his title. However, he was going up against home-favorite Felipe Massa. In just his 2nd season, Lewis pulled off a miracle as he won in Brazil in a scintillating manner. LH44 fans paid tribute to the former McLaren driver on Instagram and Twitter.

Additionally, many fans called him the “GOAT” and praised the Brit for being a role model for the younger generation.

Moreover, fans on Instagram also had a lot to say in the comments section. One fan commented, “Mclaren admin needs a raise”. Meanwhile, another fan wrote, “Hamilton, Senna, Mika? Mclaren has partnered with some of the greats”.

Additionally, fans also commented stating that “He started from scratch and became one of the greatest ❤️”. On the other hand, one fan made a peculiar observation. He wrote, “Clever, 44th week of the year”.

Subsequently, one fan accepted Hamilton as the GOAT. He said, “And then on to become the undisputed greatest of all time”.
