F1 is a unique sport. Here, people get rewards for individual and team achievements throughout the race weekend. The drivers and the teams work in harmony to bring the most points in every weekend for themselves. So it is pretty special to see when teams celebrate their driver crossing the line to finish in the podium places. The team usually cheers for the driver from the pit lane.

Most of the mechanics and team members come on to the edge of the pit lane to celebrate with the driver as he crosses the line. But as nice as it is to see a unique celebration, Formula E driver Jake Dennis correctly pointed out that it is very dangerous to celebrate like this.

He took to social media to bring attention to the celebration. ” Things you love to see, but this is so sketchy. One slip from a mechanic and it is not a pretty sight. Have a feeling it will only change if something bad were to happen,” wrote Dennis.

Fans, too, seemed to agree with the Formula E driver as they posted their reactions on Reddit regarding the same.

It is indeed a very dangerous celebration, especially when it has been raining throughout the day. The pit straight becomes very slippery, which invites a lot of danger in many parts.

The sport should also focus on this and try to improve the safety of mechanics who want to celebrate in the pit lane. This is iconic and unique to motorsports, so it should not go, but they should make it safe for everyone.
