Remember the 2021 season? Lewis Hamilton didn’t trust Max Verstappen to give him space and was always extra careful. After Lewis Hamilton had everything to lose whereas Max Verstappen had a chance to win everything. Nonetheless, Christian Horner recently raised concerns before the Hungarian GP as he pointed out an ugly backstory and failed to trust Max Verstappen. What is this story?
Lewis Hamilton finally got pole position after what felt like an eternity of Max Verstappen’s dominance. This was Lewis Hamilton’s first pole position with these new ground effect era cars. Lewis Hamilton with the W14 didn’t really show much promise for a pole throughout the weekend but really stepped it up for Q3 and took the pole by just 0.003 seconds. Max Verstappen complained about his car not having the right balance throughout the weekend and the same is the case going into the race.
With Max Verstappen starting in P2, many F1 fans will be reminded of the 2021 season, where the duo often crashed into each other as they challenged for the title. The crashes at Monza and Silverstone are the two scariest ones. Nonetheless, when Christian Horner was asked about the race plan for Max Verstappen, the Red Bull TP refrained from trusting his driver to stay out of a crash with Hamilton as he explained this crashing past that the duo has shared.

According to FormulaPassion.it, Christian Horner said “I’m excited, but also nervous. There is some previous story between Max and Lewis. But I think it’s going to be an exciting race. As long as they survive the first two corners, then it will also be interesting on a strategic level. Max nervous? I wouldn’t say.”
Whether we get a close fight for the win is yet to be seen. Red Bull has always been a class apart when it comes to race pace. But with the setup issues, will Max Verstappen struggle to keep up? Let’s see what the Dutchman had to say after his qualifying
Max Verstappen during his post-qualifying interview
Max Verstappen didn’t seem to be happy with his car ever since the Friday morning session. Red Bull has brought new upgrades for the RB19 which includes a significantly redesigned sidepod. However, it might not be due to the upgrades that the balance isn’t right. Hungaroring is a technical track and getting the setup right is a little tricky. Verstappen explained how his car didn’t feel good and the hopes for the race aren’t that high.
