A proponent of the Black Lives Matter movement in the Formula 1 world, Lewis Hamilton arrived in F1 when nobody looked like him and continues to be the only black driver around. And talk of ethnicity is something that always moves the man. “When I talk about the journey I’ve had in this sport, which I’ve often found to be relatively lonely, I would say he’s one of the few people who made sure I didn’t feel lonely,” said Lewis Hamilton to a retiring Sebastian Vettel as both the men had led the human rights agenda on Formula 1 platform. However, now the only remaining torchbearer of equality, Lewis hailed Hip Hop Star IDK’s new song.

Mr. Police is the new song of the rapper which aims to start a conversation. What sets it apart is that in a world where everyone is fighting for their rights, IDK wants to have a “feel-good” conversation with people on the other side. The other side means people who are not considered people of color. People who have never known what it feels like to have a police look at you and be scared for your life. At least this is what the new song indicated when the rapper goes on to talk about turning blue.

Lewis Hamilton took to his Instagram Account to share a video. In the said clip, the singer says, “This album is about having a conversation what its like of be a person of color around the world with the people who aren’t considered of color. But the conversation is supposed to feel good. As music feels good. It’s supposed to be inviting.” Then the video shifts to the debuting song, and the lyrics went like, “Mr. Police, how are you? Just like your clothes, you make me blue. I look both ways, I cross the street. There was no one around, how did you see me?”

Looking at the picture, Lewis said, “This one’s in Qatar where I wore a rainbow helmet.”

He added, “For me, it’s mind-blowing that we live in a time still where there are so many countries around the world but you know particularly a lot of Human Rights issues within the Middle East, women’s rights LGBT rights and there are laws that restrict people from being their true selves and I’m just I’ve always been a risk taker and like I’m gonna do this whether or not they’re gonna throw me in jail I don’t care what they’re going to do I’m gonna stand for something that I believe in even if it kills me.”
