The Azerbaijan Grand Prix is underway! Ferrari’s woes continue as Charles Leclerc is forced to retire. The Monegasque’s engine once again failed as the disaster continues for the Italian team. Earlier, his teammate Carlos Sainz also retired because of a hydraulic issue.
Leclerc, who started from pole, had a poor start as he locked up in turn 1, letting Sergio Perez pass and take the lead. As Sainz retired, Ferrari took a gamble and pitted Leclerc into hard tires. As a result, both the Red Bulls secured their 1-2 spot, but the Monegasque went ahead in lap 19 as Perez and Verstappen boxed.
This result is, of course, not ideal for the Maranello-based teams who needed to secure points in their fight for the championship. Furthermore, Leclerc had a golden opportunity to secure the top spot in the championship from Verstappen.

Now Red Bull has clear daylight and can steer clear of Ferrari. This could also prove to be a turning point in the race for the championship. Ferrari is already 36 points behind Red Bull and Verstappen and now, Perez could take over Leclerc’s position in the championship.
Ferrari fans, however, have questioned the team and ultimately left disappointed. They took to Twitter to express their views on what is a frustrating afternoon.

Just after a strategy blunder in Monaco, Leclerc has once again lost his lead in the championship despite making no errors on his own. This could prove to be a pivotal race for the championship. However, there is time for Ferrari to bounce back and they will hope they can resolve their issues next week in Canada.
