Aston Martin has not had anything to cheer about of late. Their double DNF in Monza portrays their struggle all season. However, their fans will be excited to hear the latest announcement made by the Silverstone-based constructors.

It has been a dream couple of days for Felipe Drugovich. He won the F2 World Championship yesterday and today, Aston Martin announced Drugovich will become the first member of their newly launched Driver Development Program.

In a statement released by Aston Martin on Twitter, the British constructors explained how the development program would work.

The statement read, “As a member of the programme, Felipe will become one of the team’s reserve drivers. The team’s intention is for him to drive in FP1 at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix (substituting for Lance Stroll) and to also take part in November’s young driver test at the Yas Marina Circuit.”

However, F1 fans on Twitter were not impressed by the selection. They took to Twitter, sharing their opinions.

Aston Martin fans will welcome the news of Felipe Drugovich signing for their Development program. However, F1 fans on Twitter were not overly impressed by the announcement. Furthermore, the Silverstone-based team faced the wrath of Twitter users as they shared their brutal assessments.

Furthermore, the announcement made by Aston Martin left some fans shocked.

On the other hand, fans took the opportunity to remind everyone about the Alonso and Piastri fiasco. The Spaniard signed with Aston Martin next year which rocked Alpine and F1 alike.

Felipe Drugovich won 5 races with MP Motorsports in F2 this year. Furthermore, the maturity and skill seen in his driving are very impressive for someone his age. Additionally, the Brazilian will look to learn as much as he can from the program, before eventually becoming a contender for the F1 seat.
