George Russell is on pole at the Hungarian Grand Prix! And fans are left asking, how? The Mercedes driver was unstoppable as he made his final flying lap. Everyone expected a front-row lockout for the two Ferraris when Russell came out of nowhere to spoil their party.
The driver has been in tremendous form from the beginning of his time at Mercedes. He has been the perfect fit, the perfect driver the team could’ve wished for. Turns out he has also out-qualified teammate Lewis Hamilton who only managed a P7.

Twitter was obviously in shock by Russell’s performance. The former F2 champion survived rain, wet conditions, and even the Ferrari’s and the Red Bull’s to conquer the Hungaroring. Whether he wins or not, this is probably the first of many prominent outings from the British driver.
The driver has surprised us all with his debut with the F1 goliaths. With consistent points and a regular top 5 finish, he has potentially established himself as a threat.

If we’re to go by today’s statistics, drivers should definitely keep an eye out for Russell. He has been impeccably consistent, placing no foot out of place. And now he’s on pole. Can he win his first race tomorrow?
