On the current F1 grid, the driver with the most experience under his belt is the former world champion, Fernando Alonso. Time and time again, he has delivered stellar results with his exceptional race craft. However, during the F1 summer break, the Spanish racing driver showed his skills not only off track but on water.

Each driver uses the summer break to recharge and come back firing with all cylinders. For the same, the 41-year-old visited Mykonos, Greece. The Spaniard spent this time with his partner, who presented the fans with behind-the-scenes footage on her Instagram.

In the video, Alonso is spotted lying on his belly, but on an electric surfboard in the middle of the ocean. His effortlessness in maintaining the balance of the surfboard earned him a compliment from his girlfriend. She wrote, “…Genetically prepared for sports…”

Nevertheless, it was her remark that followed, “Sexy Ferni @fernandoalo_oficial” which set up a frenzy on F1 Twitter.

A fan wrote, “What they call very comfortable very professional is definitely this guy.” (translated using Twitter)

Each F1 driver put a lot of focus on training their core muscle as it helps them sustain the G-forces through the corners. Do you think it is the F1 training that is helping Alonso master other sports off track as well?

Is the vacation high about to be over for Fernando Alonso?

The summer break of the 2022 season was indeed very dramatic, and the Oviedo-born racing driver was one of the first drivers to grab the headlines. After spending two years at Alpine, he has jumped ship to Aston Martin for the 2023 season. Remarkably, even his boss, Otmar Szafnauer was unaware of the move and learned the same in a press release.

When the news broke out, Alonso was in the middle of the ocean in Greece and unwinding peacefully in his time off. Nonetheless, it was no pleasant news for the Enstone-based team which aimed to sign him for the future seasons. As a result, the Alpine team principal commented on the high-tension atmosphere in the Alpine camp.

He said, “I have absolutely no worries about the rest of the season,” he said. “Our goals are pretty clear. We want to finish at least fourth in the constructors’ championship. I think third is a step too far.

“Fernando realizes that too. He’s a professional. He’s a competitor. Once he puts that helmet on, you know as well as I do, he wants to do the best he can, if not win.

“And there is nothing else that goes through his mind when he’s in the racing car apart from finishing as high as he can in that race, and in the championship.”

“And he still has that drive. It’s what he’s here to do. And I’m the same.” Szafnauer concluded.
