F1 will return to Las Vegas for the 2023 season after being away from the city for 40 years. The sport has announced that they will build a track around the iconic Boulevard strip and other popular attractions. Formula One community, including teams and drivers, wholeheartedly welcomed the news of adding Las Vegas as the third venue to host a race in the USA.

As reported by lvsportsbiz.com, the announcement made by F1 to host a race in Las Vegas triggered more social media activity compared to the announcement that the city will host the Super Bowl in 2024.

This is indeed remarkable considering the sport is mostly European-based, while Super Bowl is a US Sports league. This is truly astonishing to see how much the motorsport has grown in the US market. It shows the level of interest that the American audience has generated in F1.
How will the 2023 F1 Las Vegas GP be different from the one held in 1984?
The sport had previously raced in Las Vegas in the 1980s when it was called the Caesars Palace Grand Prix. Everyone largely criticized it as they held it in the parking lot of the hotel.
But this time, F1 is trying its best to build a proper street circuit around the major attractions of the city. F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali was thrilled to welcome the race on the F1 calendar for the 2023 season.

“This is an incredible moment for Formula 1 that demonstrates the huge appeal and growth of our sport with a third race in the US. Las Vegas is a destination known around the world for its excitement, hospitality, thrills, and of course, the famous Strip,” said F1 CEO.
“There is no better place for Formula 1 to race than in the global entertainment capital of the world and we cannot wait to be here next year,” said Domenicali.

The interest in the sport in the United States has grown fourfold. When the sport last visited Austin for the US Grand Prix in September, it witnessed one of the largest crowds in its history. But it would be interesting to see if the Las Vegas track could beat the record of the US GP, attracting more than 400,00 attendees. The F1 fans cannot wait to see cars racing in the iconic city of Las Vegas in 2023.
