Yuki Tsunoda’s performance this season has been quite strong, with him being P10 in the driver’s championship. In a Racing Bull, he is outperforming his teammate, the 8-time Grand Prix winner Daniel Ricciardo. With his eyes on Sergio Perez’s seat, he has been waiting for the moment he gets the Red Bull promotion into the better car. But so far, the wait is ongoing.
In the races that Tsunoda has scored points, he has finished 7th and 10th twice. He has 15 points in the bank and many believe that given a better car, he’d score much more. Despite his efforts, Christian Horner does not see him as a replacement for Perez and this has led to rumors of him wanting to leave VCARB.

As there is no green light from Red Bull about Tsunoda getting a promotion, rumors have started to surface about Tsunoda looking for a new team. According to Chris Medland from Racer.com, “Yuki Tsunoda is also interested in Haas as he looks at a future away from the Red Bull program.”

Whether this is just speculation or confirmed insider news is not yet known. But if this is true, there will be some serious movement in the driver market. Haas is most likely to bring on Oliver Bearman to prepare him to one day take the Ferrari seat. After his performance in Australia, he is one of the hottest upcoming drivers and Haas would be a great team for him.
Nico Hulkenberg is going to Stake F1 so that empties the seat that Bearman can take, and Kevin Magnussen’s career hangs in balance. Medland stated, “Ayao Komatsu told me on air on Sunday night that Kevin Magnussen is fighting for his future.” This means that if he does not prove himself this season, Haas’ team principal might consider Tsunoda.

What will this mean for VCARB?
This means a seat will open up in the rebranded Alpha Tauri and this is a great thing for Liam Lawson fans. Formula 1 is having a surge of young talent just waiting for their moment behind a top-tier single-seater. Both Ollie Bearman and Liam Lawson have taken fans’ hearts by their performance while substituting for drivers over the last 2 seasons.
At the recent Imola Grand Prix, he was on the simulator for the track and Lawson managed to impress the team with his performance. If the rumors of Yuki Tsunoda moving to Haas are true, Lawson can finally get into VCARB as a full-time driver and prove himself to the world.
