A butterfly flapped its wings and everything in the Formula One world descended into chaos. Lewis Hamilton pretty much broke the Internet when it was announced that he would join Scuderia Ferrari in 2025. That move is expected to trigger so many moves for that season. One team that will be affected, is Red Bull, who could be poised for a reunion with Alex Albon.
Hamilton has basically become a lynchpin for a number of driver market rumours. After all, the next questions will be about Carlos Sainz Jr’s future and who will replace Hamilton at Mercedes. In turn, some questions are arising about Red Bull and Sergio Perez’ seat at Red Bull. This is where Albon could potentially come in, and Windsor believes that the Austrian outfit offered him a 3-year contract.
Could the Red Bull reunion really work for Alex Albon?

Truthfully speaking, it is not easy to partner a driver of Max Verstappen’s calibre. Albon already had a shot at partnering the Dutchman, and got soundly thrashed. One could argue that at that time, he was promoted to Red Bull far too early and suffered the consequences. Since then, he has seemingly grown as a driver and become much better. His time at Williams has proven that he has matured and become a strong driver.
In a recent podcast on his YouTube channel, F1 insider Peter Windsor dropped a massive bombshell about the Williams F1 star. He said in his stream, “As I understand it, he has been offered a three-year contract by Red Bull to start in 2025. So I think you are going to see him alongside Max Verstappen in the Red Bull. I can’t imagine his going to say ‘no’ to that. Equally, that’s as I understand it is not a 100%, it is probably 90% correct I think. So I think you are going to see him in a really good car.”
Then again, there is a world of difference between going up against a Verstappen and a Nicholas Latifi or Logan Sargeant. Additionally, Red Bull has a very sink-or-swim policy and drivers have to be competitive, right off the bad. Any performances that are below expectations will be met with harsh punishment. Just ask Daniil Kvyat and Nyck de Vries. Those two drivers are definite proof that Red Bull are hard taskmasters.

Alex Albon will be focused on his Williams stint for now
Of course, Albon really cannot afford to let these rumors distract him for the upcoming season. If he does let it affect him, it could have an adverse effect on his driving. Then, just as quickly as the Red Bull link-up rumors began, they could die out just as easily. So for the moment, the 27-year-old should focus on building up the Williams F1 team and be the leader he can be. If the stars align, maybe he could get a second chance with Red Bull and alongside Verstappen.

Frankly, Max Verstappen is on another level altogether. So for the Anglo-Thai driver to try and keep up with him could be a bit of a tough ask. All that he has to do is aspire to perform better than Verstappen’s current teammate Sergio Perez. At the start, Perez was able to stick close to Verstappen in the early races but tapered off towards the end in 2022. In the following year, when Verstappen had his dominant streak, Perez only managed two wins.
