It can be said that Lewis Hamilton‘s switch to Ferrari was the beginning of the Silly Season this year. Ferrari has invested a lot of money into the 7-time world champion and has also made him the brand ambassador for Prancing Horses. However, that is not the only big move Ferrari has planned for next season.

Along with Lewis Hamilton, Adrian Newey becomes the next big target to bring on the team for Ferrari. While we have been hearing rumors about the aerodynamic mastermind joining the Maranello outfit, nothing has been confirmed as of yet. Despite there being no confirmation, there is an insider who is stating that maybe the deal is already done and we can expect Newey in Scarlet next season.

Marc Priestley is a commentator for BBC, but before that, he was a McLaren mechanic on the grid. Being in the F1 scene, he gets to know details about transfers from his insiders. As he learned from one of his sources, he stated, “There have been many rumors that Newey has signed with Ferrari.”

While he made the big claim, he also mentioned, “There is absolutely nothing concrete or official, but more than one person told me they heard, with some authority, that the deal was potentially done.” Now that we know, this is not enough to believe that Newey will be with Ferrari soon; it’s a good milestone to consider in the updates for the mastermind engineer.

So far, Fred Vasseur is trying to build a super team with Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton as drivers, and no one will complete the trio better than Adrian Newey. Having Adrian Newey on the team would be a great boost for Ferrari, who look like they are already competing for the championship this year. Having Lewis Hamilton and Newey might just be what the team needs to overthrow Max Verstappen’s dominance on the track. According to sources, Adrian Newey has received an extremely generous offer from not only Ferrari but Mercedes too.

Mercedes offer to Adrian Newey

Ferrari has been implying divide and conquer, as they have broken Mercedes down to their last. After Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari hired Jerome d’Ambrosio, who was set to become the team principal at Mercedes. Toto Wolff had specially trained him to take over his role but Ferrari had other plans.

On the other hand, Mercedes performance director Loic Serra was also won by Ferrari. Now that Mercedes is struggling to keep its team together, it made an offer to Adrian Newey that included shares of the team and a handsome salary. Now, all we can do is wait and see if Mercedes can land the deal with Newey or if Ferrari will beat them to it. What do you think will happen? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
