Despite the Bahrain GP 3-4, there was still some disappointment in the Ferrari garage. It was mainly because of the difference in the team’s expectations vs the reality. It was especially bad for Charles Leclerc, who suffered greatly with his soft compound tries and started losing places right from the start. However, heading to Jeddah for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the Italian team might’ve fixed the problem and might even find additional pace.
This suggestion has been made in a report by Formu1a.uno. The report suggests Ferrari has brought a new aerodynamics package and tested it during the first practice session of the race weekend. Ferrari introduced it in the middle of the session and despite being only 5th and 6th fastest in the session; the upgrade showed promise.

The Maranello-based outfit replaced the beam wing while the FP1 session was underway. That’s not all. The Italian team even experimented with different rear configurations in order to collect data for the upcoming race/s. The SF-24 has yet to show its true potential on a flying lap but all signs point to a positive weekend. If the tests yield positive results, we might see a faster Ferrari over the weekend and overall as they try to unlock the car’s true potential.
With the car’s performance improving, we might see them challenge the leading pack of bulls on a track that favors the RB20. However, before the drivers can focus on anyone else, there is an internal battle both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will fight as we saw in Bahrain and we will continue to see as the season progresses. If are to believe an F1 insider, in the long run, Sainz is winning this fight.
F1 insider tips the scales in Carlos Sainz’s favor in the Ferrari power struggle against Charles Leclerc
The Spaniard racing for Ferrari in his last contractual year wants to go out with a bang. In doing so, he needs his entire team’s help, including Leclerc, wherever he can. He even issued a public plea and said, “I would like to see a Carlos who is allowed to show off a little more in the race than he did last year.”
We saw a glimpse of it in Bahrain when Sainz fought and overtook Leclerc twice without any interference from the team. After tasting blood, the Spaniard even confessed he will be racing for himself throughout the upcoming season and an F1 expert Naomi Schiff believes Sainz will come out on top in the intra-team battle.

Schiff said, “There have been moments where things happened in Charles’ garage that weren’t necessarily happening on Carlos’ side, on race day. That’s because it seemed like Carlos was ahead on a few things.”
That is something we clearly saw with Leclerc’s constant lockups during the first stint.
