The much anticipated Miami Grand Prix is finally underway. As the qualification for Sunday’s race has just been concluded, Charles Leclerc emerged as the pole sitter. And it was none other than Hollywood actor Michael Douglas who graced the lively occasion.

The first-ever Miami Grand Prix saw Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc take the pole position ahead of his teammate Carlos Sainz. Meanwhile, defending champion and Emilia Romagna Grand Prix winner Max Verstappen qualified in P3 ahead of his teammate Sergio Perez.

The Jewel of the Nile famed actor has been a renowned F1 fan. The Hollywood actor conveyed that the inaugural Miami Grand Prix has been the best start to a Grand Prix weekend. The event in the state of Florida saw Douglas presenting the Pirelli Pole Position Award to Leclerc.

While many shared moments with the veteran actor, FIA President Muhammed Ben Sulayem took an opportunity to share a frame with him. The F1 governing body president wrote, “A privilege to meet Hollywood legend Michael Douglas at @f1miami.”

How did the F1 qualifying session unfold that saw Charles Leclerc on pole?

It was the same Ferrari vs Red Bull once again in the battle for supremacy. While the Ferrari duo of Charles and Carlos locked the front row, Red Bull managed to lock the second row. Former Mercedes man Valtteri qualified ahead of his former teammate Lewis in P5.

Mercedes’s George Russell was out in Q2 despite being pretty impressive throughout the practice sessions. The session hasn’t been a great one for Alonso either, as the Spaniard was out in Q2 for the first time this season. McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo continues to struggle as he failed to make a Q3 appearance once again this season.
