Formula 1 is flourishing and, as a result, the FIA has decided to schedule 23 events for the upcoming season. The appeal of sports has been influenced by a variety of variables, but Netflix’s Drive to Survive has been a major one. After receiving a resoundingly positive response from viewers to Netflix’s popular DTS, audiences would now learn about the man’s inner workings from the 1950s up till that fateful day in 2017. Yes, Bernie Ecclestone will be seen in the upcoming documentary ‘Lucky’ outlining his path. The Frontman will be shown providing some insights into his working tenure and talking about one of the most successful F1 teams, the “Ferrari,” in the eight episodes of the documentary.

Ecclestone oversaw Formula 1 for 40 years and was frequently referred to as the “F1 supremo” during that time. After Liberty Media took control of the sport in January 2017, he was sacked from his chief executive role. In his tenure at Formula One, Ecclestone always presented a contentious image. However, the 92-year-old had a great relationship with the late Enzo Ferrari, who founded the illustrious Scuderia Ferrari team.

A clip has surfaced on the internet where we can see Ecclestone saying, “I’ve never, ever, ever thought anything other than ‘we need Ferrari as much as Ferrari needs us.’ Formula One is Ferrari.” The F1 Mogul thinks that Formula 1 is Ferrari, despite a barren period since Kimi Raikkonen’s previous title win in 2007.

Even on delicate subjects, the F1 boss has never shied away from sharing his opinions. The F1 Mogul also gave Ferrari some advice earlier this year, which the team might not have particularly appreciated. Ferrari started the season off brilliantly, winning two of the first three races. Charles Leclerc even had a 34-point lead over Max Verstappen before things started to go south. After that, Scuderia experienced a number of problems, including reliability issues, strategic blunders, and driver mistakes.

All of this really disappointed Bernie Ecclestone, the former F1 boss, and in a conversation with Blick, he said, “I hoped with many people that Ferrari would make it again after more than 14 years. Unfortunately, I have to say that anyone who continues to put their money on Ferrari or Leclerc will get nothing!” [translated from Google]

Adding further, he pointed out the issues and said, “Mistakes are creeping in again at Ferrari. The reliability is often reminiscent of the old days and the drivers themselves are not always confident on the road.” [translated from Google]
