Liberty Media has been essential to the growth of the sport ever since assuming control of Formula 1 in 2017. The audience, especially American viewers, was riveted by the Netflix hit series ‘Drive to Survive’, which aired in 2019. And now that the Liberty Media Manager Ross Brawn has decided to retire, he has something to say about the changing revolution of the sport.
In 2016, Bernie Ecclestone sold F1 to Liberty Media for $4.4 billion. The F1 world was abuzz about it. Since then, the sport has seen significant growth thanks to the new owners’ significant investments and numerous improvements. The sport concentrated on enhancing the ability of vehicles to follow and, as a result, increase the opportunities for overtaking. And since the British man is now resigning from his position, he is pleased to have won an apology from the paddock’s doubters.
Brawn gave Motorsport Magazine his assessment of the modifications, saying, “I think even the skeptics of the F1 teams, and I won’t tell you who they were, swallowed their pride and acknowledged that the data shows the cars could fight and were less impacted by following another car. And I don’t think there’s a team on the grid that denies it. It’s a matter of degree, but I think it’s quite significant.”

Brawn asserted back at the beginning of 2022 that the adjustments won’t result in performance right now, to eliminate the significant advantage that bigger teams like Mercedes, Red Bull, and Ferrari currently enjoy over rivals. It seems that Brawn, in his recent comments, was highlighting his previous statements as Brawn earlier said in an interview, ‘There have to be disputes, it wouldn’t be F1 without them. It would also be naive of us to think that we won’t have any disputes in the coming year.”
F1’s success has been largely attributed to Ross Brawn and his business’ ingenuity. Additionally, Brawn brought up ‘Reverse Grid’ in yet another inventive discussion last year.
Ross Brawn talks about a creative reverse grid topic that can make F1 more entertaining
Ross Brawn is the former boss of the Ferrari and Mercedes team. Besides, he is a creative thinker who suggested sprint qualifying as a superior alternative to an additional race while devising a fun structure. Furthermore, Brawn believes that owners should proceed with caution while deploying the Reverse Grid feature.

Talking to motorsports.com Brawn said, “You have a sprint race [now]. And, for me, a sprint race can only add because it’s a competition, it’s a contest, best guy wins, smartest guy wins it’s a meritocracy.”
Adding further he said, “There’s always this debate about reverse grids. Reverse grids would be pretty entertaining. I think most of us would love to see what would happen.”
