The German racing driver’s contract runs out at the end of this year and presently, he is not a feature of the prospective 2023 grid. Nevertheless, he is acclaimed to be the future face of F1 and his recent run of form will help him with the contract negotiations for his time ahead.
Even though he is a part of the Ferrari driver academy, a recent social media activity links him to wearing a blue and pink racing suit next season. The 23-year-old followed the Alpine CEO, Laurent Rossi on Instagram, who has an empty seat on his team for the upcoming season. Coincidence? F1 Twitter thinks otherwise.

The final 2 candidates for Alpine are Daniel Ricciardo + Mick Schumacher.

Nonetheless, the unavailability of any other opportunity to race at top of the grid can sway the young German away from his current team. The Enstone outfit has a more strong package than the American team and can force the hand of the F1 star to jump ship and fight for higher grid positions.
Who will be the face of Alpine in 2023?
The two-time world champion, Fernando Alonso set the chaos in motion in the drivers market by opting to race for Aston Martin in the future. This caught the Alpine out of the blue and as a last-ditch effort the team promoted its reserve driver, Oscar Piastri to represent them in 2023. However, the Aussie’s contract ended, and he was a free agent to negotiate with another team in F1.
Henceforth, Piastri released a statement in which he denied putting pen to paper, and because of this, the seat is still up for grabs for the oncoming season. Another name, who is linked to the French team, is the McLaren ace, Daniel Ricciardo, who has struggled to settle in his new team.

To conclude all the drama, Former F1 driver, Ralf Schumacher commented, “The names are there, with every cockpit, Mick [Schumacher, Ralf’s nephew] has also not yet signed a contract.
“Therefore, he would be a candidate. A candidate with speed, as you have seen.
“Nico Hulkenberg is also still in the starting blocks. And then there is the question of Daniel Ricciardo.”
