Alpine started the Sprint with decent grid positions, with Alonso in P7 and Ocon in an even better P6. If it wasn’t for their collision, the French-based team could have taken a strong lead in the battle for P4 with Mclaren. But the pair collided twice. In the first instance, it was just a minor contact where Fernando Alonso tried to overtake Ocon at turn 4. But the latter contact was a significant one. The collision made them finish at the back of the grid.

The pair were called to visit the stewards post-race, and afterward, Alonso was given a five-second time penalty that pushed him down to 18th and lifted Ocon to 17th. After Alonso’s comment post the Sprint, Econ, and Alpine received hate comments. Hence, the team gave a warning to all the haters and trollers that the team will not tolerate any such comments.

The Enstone outfit posted a message on their Twitter handle in which they threatened to take action. The statement read, “Whatever happens on track, there is absolutely no excuse for hateful comments, abuse or toxicity to be directed towards our drivers, team members, fans or indeed anybody online.”

“Of all of the comments that we received across our social media channels during and after today’s Sprint qualifying, we received 882 toxic comments, 162 of which were severely toxic. This is wholly unacceptable.”

Fernando Alonso’s comments Trigger the Twitter F1 fans

After the sprint race, when asked if he will have a chat with Ocon regarding the collision, Alonso said, “I don’t need to. One more race and it’s over, finally. I was very close to the wall in Jeddah, I think, close to the wall in Budapest, today in turn four. This is the way things are, sometimes it’s very competitive inside the team. Yeah, it’s one more race.”

This statement generated toxicity and abuse on Twitter, where one Fan is found blaming Alonso for the event. Here is what people had to say on Twitter about the entire ordeal.

Some of the fans raised questions on the Alpine team about them not taking any stand for Lewis Hamilton.

Some troller believes that Lance Stroll has to face the same things when Alonso will join Aston Martin.
