The Albert Park circuit in Melbourne, Australia, returns to the Formula 1 calendar after 2019. The official attendance of 112,466 on Friday was the biggest crowd ever in the venue. It shows the excitement around this much-awaited race. Meanwhile, Nicholas Latifi’s crash with Lance Stroll in Q1 has grabbed the headlines on Saturday’s first qualifying session.

The Williams driver let Lance Stroll past towards the corner, but immediately tried to regain the place. Stroll turned slightly towards the right when Latifi tried to overtake him. The Aston Martin driver’s front tire crashed into Latifi’s car, resulting in Latifi crashing into the barriers. The session was red-flagged and both the drivers were out of the qualifying.

However, the red flag assisted Aston Martin’s other driver, Sebastian Vettel. The German suffered heavy damage to the car in FP3 and as a result, his car was not ready in time for the Qualifying. Nevertheless, the red flag and debris out on the track took some time to clear as Vettel set a time, but unfortunately, he was out of Q1 as well.

Meanwhile, Twitter did not go easy on the Canadian after he crashed once again, this time in Australia.

Meanwhile, Lance Stroll also crashed into the barriers in FP3. The team fixed Stroll’s car just before the end of the qualifying and they will be disappointed with the crash in Q1. The incident will also not go down well with Williams, especially with the budget cap in play. They will look to fix the car ahead of the race on Sunday.

Both the Williams and Aston Martin are out of the first qualifying session, along with Haas driver Kevin Magnussen. Earlier, Free Practice 3 saw surprising results with McLaren’s Lando Norris topping the timesheet with Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez finishing after him.

The Australian Grand Prix also witnesses plenty of changes to the track with many corners widened and turns 9 and 10 removed to assist overtakes. The fans can expect another thrilling drama after the first two races in the Gulf.
