F1 returned to Australia after two years. As the sport makes a stunning comeback to the land down under, fans from all over the world anticipate a great weekend. With everything in place, the grand Prix seems good to go. However, that might not be the case with Lewis Hamilton.

The new season brought in many new rules and regulations. The 2022 season has been one of the few seasons when the entire sport took a huge makeover. Now, with these, a directive has come from the race director. However, this isn’t a new rule to be implemented, as many believed.

According to SoyMotor journalist Antonio Lobato, the new rules might have to do with drivers and their personal belongings. He conveyed, “By the way, the message from the race director to the teams: No jewelry, chains, or piercings will be allowed in the race from this grand Prix. Hamilton is going to have to remove earrings from his ears and piercing from his nose…”

However, it is believed that the rule is not new. It has been implemented keeping in mind the safety of the drivers. A user pointed out that it was a rule that got implemented in 2005.

The fans seem to have not liked the directive. They took to Twitter to share their displeasure.

How has Lewis Hamilton fared this season?

The last lap showdown at Abu Dhabi still haunts the seven-time world champion. Max Verstappen snatched the victory from Lewis at the very last lap. Otherwise, that could’ve been a new record for him. Despite the setback, Lewis came back to fight for his eighth world title, and this time with more determination.

However, the season hasn’t gone the way Hamilton expected it to be yet. When you chase a world championship, you need to have a great car. This time, Mercedes seems to have something short. Not only do the Silver Arrows suffer from porpoising, but their power units also don’t seem strong enough to fight the likes of Ferrari or Red Bull.

Lewis currently sits in P5 in driver’s standings. He’s 29 points behind leader Charles Leclerc after two races. As F1 is in Australia, it’ll be interesting to see if Mercedes can make a stunning comeback and repeat their 2019 feat with a Silver Arrows 1-2. Can they do it? Only time will tell.
