There’s a saying – ‘fan of the fans’; and it sits perfectly with the one and only Lewis Hamilton. Well, not just the 7x champ, but all the F1 drivers owe their being to these ardent supporters. However, very few would go the extra mile for the followers. Hamilton of course is an exception. He always makes it a point to bring a smile to the faces of the people who love him so dearly.
While Logan Sargeant’s horrific crash sent chills down our spines, Hamilton was up to something special behind the scenes. Of course, the red flags were out following the accident, which led to the drivers huddling back to their pits. The authorities called off FP3 to clear the track, repair the barriers at Hugenholtz turn, and handle other issues. This was when Zandvoort witnessed one of the most endearing moments of this year.
Instead of going back to the pit, Lewis Hamilton met his fans, who understood they’d have to miss the rest of practice. He not just interacted with the fans, but also handed the biggest surprise to a lucky young fan in the crowd. Hamilton invited the little boy and his father to the pits, and they got to touch Hamilton’s steering wheel. F1 presenter Rachel Brookes reported that Lewis Hamilton noticed the duo waving at the gate. He must have been waiting for his chance to meet them, and when the opportunity finally arrived, Lewis invited them into the paddock for an unforgettable experience.

If this isn’t the personification of luck, then what is? The motorsport giant further told the father-son duo about the different parts of his W15. Hamilton too, enjoyed himself interacting with his young supporter. The family will likely remember this day as one of the best because they got to interact with the world’s best driver.

Right after the summer break, the Zandvoort circuit became the first clash center for the 20 best drivers in the world. The race for the top spot has commenced once again. Following Mercedes‘ colossal comeback in the game since the Canadian GP earlier this year, Hamilton’s optimism was sky-rocketing. However, Lewis’s joy was short-lived as he got pushed out of Q2 on Saturday.
Settling down in P12, the 39-year-old was disappointed. But, the debacle did not stop there, an incident on the track with Red Bull’s Sergio Perez handed him a grid penalty. Thus sending him to P14. “It just went downhill like a domino effect. From the moment with Checo…” Hamilton expressed his displeasure. But as we know, he is Lewis Hamilton and he has won races starting from the tail. So, anything is possible in F1.
While fans have thoroughly loved the Mercedes ace’s classy and kindhearted gesture, concern persists. His supporters fear that the Dutch GP won’t witness the reiteration of Silverstone or Spa-Francorchamps. However, not a single ounce of support will be decreased because the LH Army is ready to go all out in cheering for their favorite.
