In 2021, Max Verstappen sent Holland into rapture when he went on to win the first Dutch Grand Prix since 1985. Keeping control throughout the 72-lap race, the Dutchman’s concentration never faded. The win at Zandvoort slung Max to the top of the drivers’ standings. Just like Max, the Orange Army was ecstatic at their home hero’s win and want to see him do it again.

“Turn up to the Max and listen to the roar,” exclaimed Sky commentator David Croft as Max Verstappen crossed the line to win the race. Well, turn it up to the Max-imum again because the tickets for the 2022 race have already sold out.
Zandvoort stands packed to support Max
For an event that is supposed to take place between the 2nd to 4th of September; tickets are only available for Friday. The sporting director for the Dutch Grand Prix, Jan Lammers received a lot of praise for last year’s event. He is also excited about the 2022 edition. “It is great that all tickets for Saturday and Sunday have been sold. In addition, the Dutch Grand Prix is also a huge success among the business community,” said the former F1 driver.
“It’s great news for all race fans that with the Jumbo promotion there are still tickets for Super Friday. This day promises to be an even bigger spectacle this year than in 2021.”
Dubbed “Super Friday”, Jumbo Supermarkets are now selling tickets in their respective outlets. Moreover, customers can now avail of Friday tickets with a 50% discount on their purchases.
“Last year there was an incredible party in Zandvoort during Super Friday. We are delighted that we have a large number of tickets available for our Jumbo customers for the upcoming Dutch Grand Prix,” says Frits van Eerd, the general manager of Jumbo.
Frits was excited as well for this year and concluded, “We are going to enjoy this Super Friday again with as many fans as possible and cheer on ‘our’ Max together during the opening day of a fantastic race weekend.”
Max Verstappen and his 2022 title defense
Last year, apart from winning the 2021 Spa Francorchamps and following it up in the Netherlands; Max also won the championship. Winning a home race is one dream, but winning the coveted Driver’s title is the most prestigious one.

And while his 2022 title defense has gotten off to a bad start, he has managed to claw back that deficit to Charles Leclerc. But if anything, Verstappen is a more relaxed person now. With the pressure gone from his shoulders, everything else he does this season is an added bonus to his resume. Formula 1 journalist Lawrence Barretto also feels the same.

When asked if the pressure if off, The Dutchman said this to Lawrence when they met in Australia, “Yeah – of course. You can see it. It still means a lot when I win races, when I won in Saudi it meant a lot – but it’s a different feeling leading up to the weekends now.”
Barretto concluded that the Red Bull driver we see now doesn’t care if he wins more titles, but is more skillful than ever.
