Karma has no menu. One gets served what one deserves. Stefano Domenicali has put faith in FIA to predict Max Verstappen and Co.’s fate. The F1 CEO has predicted the Austrian teams fall down a steep hill created by the FIA as Red Bull was caught committing a crime last season. The past crimes are set to haunt Red Bull as it promises to help out Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton in their title hopes. What was the crime and how will it help the two world champions?

The F1 CEO believes that Red Bull has done a magnificent job at staying on the top. However, Stefano Domenicali suggested that the budget cap will help the competition develop up to the levels of Red Bull. He also explained how the other teams will have a chance to catch up as Red Bull possibly would’ve used a majority of their aerodynamic time whereas teams like Aston Martin and Mercedes will still have a lot of time left to develop through the season. Domenicali suggested that the season is long, and he is hoping for surprises to come at the end of the season.

According to soymotor.com, Stefano Domenicali said “If a team is faster than the others, congratulations, they did a better job,” “If you look at the rest of the teams, the group is very, very close,” further adding “I am very sure that with the budget limit, this situation will evolve in the best way for better competition”, “We have to wait and see the effect of the sanction that they had last year with the reduction of the wind tunnel. The championship is very long and I think we are going to have good surprises at the end

The F1 CEO believes that the sanctions on Red Bull will show its effect towards the second half helping teams like Aston Martin, Ferrari, and Mercedes to catch up to the Austrian team. However, Frederic Vasseur is of a different opinion. The Ferrari Team Principal believes that the sanctions on Red Bull weren’t harsh enough and that Red Bull got away with breaching the cost cap lightly.

Frederic Vasseur considers the Red Bull sanctions to not be a penalty at all. The Frenchman suggested that if a team improves by 1 second over a season, a 10% decreases in aerodynamic testing translates to a loss of only a tenth of performance. Red Bull spent more last season to get a competitive edge at the start of the current season and will only have to deal with a 10% handicap at development through the season.

According to motorsport.com, Frederic Vasseur said “I think it was not a penalty,” “It was very low. If you consider that basically, we will improve a bit less than one second over the season in terms of aero, you get the penalty of 10% of this, it’s one-tenth.” further adding “I’m not sure that the effect is mega. And if you consider that you have an advantage at the beginning of the season because you spent more the year before.”
