2021 will go down in history as one of the best seasons of Formula One. The season had everything a fan could hope for, including a once-in-a-lifetime championship fight. F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali too mentioned that he is satisfied with how the 2021 season panned out.
In 2021, the sport welcomed back the crowds at the circuits. F1 slowly but surely went back to its normal ways of conducting a Grand Prix weekend. It also saw record attendance in the US Grand Prix, with over 400,000 spectators attending the race weekend. Domenicali was pleased to see the boom of F1 in the United States.

“But we were rewarded: Thanks to the exciting fight between Lewis (Hamilton; d. Red.) And Max (Verstappen; d. Red.) The interest was enormous. We are currently experiencing a boom in the USA. This is very important to us.
That’s why I got off to a good start and I hope that this is the foundation for a 2022 season that will be even better.” said the F1 CEO.

The growth and the popularity of the sport have skyrocketed in the United States. It is because of the success of the Netflix series Drive To Survive and the popularity of the US GP in Austin. To capitalize on this boom, the sport will host two races in the country from 2022. Hopefully, F1 can get even more people involved in the US with the introduction of the Miami Grand Prix from the next season.
