It has been a tough season for Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes. Mercedes are set to see their 8-year-long constructors’ championship-winning run end. On the other hand, it is the first season in eight years where Lewis Hamilton is not posing a challenge for the drivers’ championship.

While Hamilton and Mercedes have fallen down the pecking order this season, the seven-time world champion does not see it as a “dry spell.”

You cannot keep a 103-race-winning champion quiet for too long. This is the first time in many years when Lewis Hamilton is not a protagonist in the World Drivers’ Championship (WDC). And he sure is itching to come back stronger. He recently reflected upon this season and how challenging it has been.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Lewis Hamilton let his thoughts known on how he saw this season and what lies ahead.

He said, “I look at it (this season) as a bit of adversity.”

Counting the remaining six races as six opportunities, the Brit said, “There are six races [left] so there’s six opportunities and we will try to get a win, but if we do not do well, I do not think it is the end of the world.”

Firing a warning at rivals Red Bull and Max Verstappen, Hamilton said, “We will get back to the top.”

Speaking further, Lewis set an ambitious target for team Mercedes for the remaining of the season.

Mercedes may well be 35 points behind Ferrari and sitting in 3rd right now, but they have a more reliable car. Ferrari have had a season flooded with retirements, indicating at an unreliable car. This is why Lewis’ target seems pretty achievable.

He said, “Our goal is to try and get second in the teams because that does make a huge impact for everybody back at the factory and so these next six races are just about maximum attack, nothing to lose and going to give it hell.”

He continued, “I would say Singapore should be a good track for us because it’s a high downforce circuit. However, it is bumpy.”
