After an emotional Monaco GP, the second race of the double header won by the home hero Charles Leclerc, the F1 community looks forward to the next race. A quick weekend away from F1 and the racing will be back on the other side of the Atlantic with the Canadian GP. The Canadian GP will be held from the 7th of June to the 9th of June at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in the city of Montreal.
The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve was originally named Ile Notre Dame Circuit, as it is on Notre Dame Island. However, in 1982, it was renamed in honor of Canadian driver Gilles Villeneuve, who passed away while racing. It is a street circuit with purpose-built sections connected to the public roads. The circuit has a mixture of chicanes, fast-sweeping corners, and long straights. A very technical track where traction and straight-line speed are the king.
The Canadian GP is the home race for Lance Stroll and fans show up in huge numbers to support the home hero. All eyes will be on Aston Martin and Lance Stroll. Charles Leclerc will also be expected to do well after his Monaco GP win. Max Verstappen will be under pressure and we’ll have to see if Red Bull gets it right in Montreal. For now, let’s see when you’ll be able to catch up with the live action from the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve

2024 Canadian GP Schedule: June 7 to June 9
The Canadian GP will be the 9th round of the 2024 F1 World Championship. It’ll be the second race of the season in the western hemisphere continent as F1 makes its way back to the North American continent after a couple of races in Europe. The weekend starts on the 6th of June for the driver with media duties and press conferences. The racing action begins on the 7th of June with the two practice sessions, FP1 and FP2. Saturday, the 8th of June, brings the final practice sessions and the qualifying. June 9th is the all-important day where all the points are scored, as it’s race day.
Canadian GP Practice 1: Friday, June 7
The Canadian GP circuit layout will be very different to the Monaco GP and hence teams will be bringing a low downforce package. FP1 will be about gathering the data and optimizing the package so as to help tune the car before the all-important FP2 session is underway.

Canadian GP Qualifying: Saturday, June 8
The most important session of the day, but not as important as qualifying was in Monaco, as overtaking is very much possible around Canada. The session will help set up the grid for the race on Sunday. The session is divided into 3 parts: Q1, Q2 and Q3. Q1 decides the grid for the bottom 5 drivers, Q2 decides P11-P15, followed by Q3, which sets the Top 10.
