The former Sauber driver finished the last race of the season in P8 and nearly clinched a P6 finish for Aston Martin in the WCC. But it was his coming together with his teammate Sebastian Vettel as well as his future teammate Fernando Alonso, which brought the spotlight on Lance.
FIA punished Stroll with a 3-place grid penalty in the next race after his collision with double-world champion Alonso in the US. In the next incident, Stroll this time came in contact with his teammate and retiring legend, Sebastian Vettel.
The Canadian dangerously forced Vettel to run out of the track in the Brazilian GP after he tried to defend against the German. The FIA then penalized him with a 10-second penalty and three penalty points as well. Lance has also been in the hot water for excessive speeding in the pit lane.
The Aston Martin driver picked up a collective fine totaling around $1,350 on 4 separate occasions. They levied a fine on him in Imola (~$930), Austin (~$105), Mexico City (~$105), and Sao Paulo (~$210)

The Canadian driver won’t lose any sleep on the amount of the fines. However, he needs to be careful in order to avoid a race ban next year. The penalty points stay up to a year on a driver’s license and exceeding their limits results in 1 race ban for the racer.
Ex-F1 driver believes Lawrence Stroll needs to make “difficult decisions” in the interest of Aston Martin
Former F1 driver Johnny Herbert believes that Lawrence Stroll needs to review the performances of his son and make a decision for the betterment of his team. Lance Stroll has had a disappointing season this year. Moreover, the Silverstone team’s unreliable car hasn’t helped him either.
“Lance has had a bit of a difficult time lately. I sometimes think there is a certain time that, if it doesn’t happen for him [in F1], Lawrence has got to say to his son: ‘I’ve given you a chance, it isn’t quite working out, now I have to do the right thing for the team’,” the Sky F1 pundit told the F1 Nation podcast.

He also stated, “There will be a point that’s going to happen. I don’t exactly know when that will be, but it is down to Lance to do the job that he needs to do and consistently do that job. At the moment, it’s a little bit scrappy.”
Lance Stroll will hope to pull his socks up and perform against Fernando Alonso next season.
