The F1 circus is all set to rock up at the Nurburgring this weekend for the Eifel Grand Prix. We have witnessed plenty of drama and seen some enthralling storylines unfold this year.

What does the race in Germany hold in store for us? More importantly, what will be the weather conditions over the race weekend? Is rain on the menu? Here are our weather predictions.

F1 racing returns to the Nurburgring after 7 long years and early indications make it seem like this will be one hell of a race to watch. Especially if the weather satellites are right.

Firstly, the Eifel Grand Prix is all set to be a winterfest. For the first and second practice sessions that will take place on the 9th of October, the highest temperature expected will be a freezing 12° while the lowest temperature is expected to be 4°. Interestingly, the chance of precipitation is medium to high at 41%.

For the 10th of October, the day of qualifying, temperatures are predicted to be not more than 10° with the lowest it could drop to being 4°. However, if you were expecting a juicy, wet qualifying session, then you’ll be disappointed. The chance of rain predicted for Saturday is only 6%.

But wait, there’s no reason to feel disappointed because F1 fans might just get what they’ve been longing for on race day.

For Sunday, the 11th of October, the chances of witnessing rain rise dramatically to 41%. With temperatures forecasted to be between only 9° to 4°. This will prove to be an intense challenge for the drivers, but for fans, it could mean rip-roaring entertainment.

What Happened the last time F1 visited the Nurburgring

The last time F1 came to the Nurburgring was in 2013, for the German Grand Prix. The results of the last race in Nurburg may come as a bit of a surprise.

Ok, maybe the race winner won’t surprise you considering it was Sebastian Vettel. But joining him on the podium were the two Lotus drivers, Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean.

Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg had a pretty bad race and came home in P5 and P9, respectively.

However, don’t expect to see the same podium winners this time around. Expect the Mercedes duo and Red Bull driver Max Verstappen to be the frontrunners for the podium slots in 2020.
