If you’re one to think F1 drivers don’t face everyday problems, you are wrong! Just ask Charles Leclerc. The Ferrari man got the short end of the stick as he picked up the responsibility of choosing the restaurant for Sebastian Vettel’s farewell dinner. A reasonably straightforward task was made difficult when he had to take all the drivers into consideration.

Recently, all the current drivers on the grid got together for a sit-down dinner. The dinner’s purpose was to celebrate Sebastian Vettel’s career and bid him farewell. However, when choosing the restaurant, Leclerc faced some difficulties.

Canal+ journalist reveals the difficulty Leclerc faced while choosing the restaurant to every driver’s liking

The Ferrari man got the responsibility of choosing a restaurant for the pre-planned dinner. As with most activities involving a large group, the Monegasque faced difficulties in picking the restaurant.

Leclerc revealed to Canal+ journalist Laurent Dupin that taking everyone’s consideration into account made it difficult. “End of season dinner. Charles Leclerc told us that it was not easy to find a restaurant corresponding to the desires of all the pilots,” tweeted the journalist. [Translated by Google]

However, once Leclerc went digging, the Monegasque struck gold. All drivers agreed to a Michelin Star recipient restaurant suggestion made by Leclerc, Hakkasan. The Pan-Asian restaurant, in the Emirates Palace, is not only a Michelin Star recipient but also has multiple accolades to boast of. Dinner in the restaurant averages around $106, you can multiply that by 20 as all the drivers on the grid were present for it.

The Hakkasan chain made its debut in Emirates Palace in 2010. Since then, the restaurant has won multiple awards. The latest, in 2019, was the Fact Dining Award for the best Chinese restaurant.

The restaurant is spread across 16,000 sq ft and offers vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. We know at least one driver on the grid was happy to hear that.

Lewis Hamilton credits veganism for his F1 success

The British world champion turned vegan in 2017 and ditched all meat and dairy from his diet. Why you may ask? To keep up with the physical demands of F1.

Speaking about his diet, Hamilton revealed “I have a relatively high protein diet. No carbs, really — But then I have a lot of vegetables.”

Hamilton followed a host of athletes in adopting a plant-based diet. Since then, he has won a fair few world championships so safe to say it’s not hindering his progress.
