Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher – These are the only two drivers with 7 F1 World Championships. And as a consequence of that, the GOAT debate is usually between these 2 drivers. Who’s the GOAT? – This question has been asked in every sport and usually, there is no consensus. And while the debate may never end, the opinions keep coming. But to successfully put an end to it, an Ex-Ferrari manager has given solid facts to back up his choice.

Both drivers have won 7 world championships each. But they belong to different eras, raced in different cars, and different F1 formats. So, how is one supposed to conclude the GOAT debate? One basis for comparison could be their driving styles, maybe. Another could be how efficiently they operate in a team setting. Talking about the latter in particular, Peter Windsor has chosen Schumacher as his GOAT. And this opinion can be held in high regard as Windsor was the Race-winning General Manager for Ferrari from 1989 to 1990.

On his YouTube Live, Windsor said, “It’s a good question. I think Lewis is the purer driver, absolute racing driver. But Schumacher very very good doing a Jackie Stewart, doing a Niki Lauda; getting very good people, getting the best from people around him as well. Knowing all their names, really looking after the people, really getting the team to gel – That’s what Michael also did incredibly well. And that’s a rare talent.

He further added, “It’s very easy for racing drivers to become quite remote when they start earning a lot of money and a lot of fame. And Michael didn’t do that. So yea, Michael at his peak, probably I would go for Michael rather than Lewis as well.

Without being biased, Windsor has given his opinion on the debate. Hamilton’s time seems to be running out. And one of his fellow drivers too has given an indirect answer to this question by trashing Hamilton’s behavior on the team radio.

Lewis Hamilton had a poor showing at the Austrian GP. And his Sunday race got worse after he got a 5-second time penalty for exceeding track limits multiple times. After that, the Briton had a meltdown. He complained about the car and also a lot about other drivers not getting penalized for the same mistake. Eventually, Toto Wolff had to shut him up. Now, Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg has given his take on Hamilton’s complaints.

Everybody could notice that Hamilton was incessantly complaining on his team radio. And that is not what you expect of a 7-time World Champion. Citing the same reason, Hulkenberg told Servus TV: “You’d have to say Lewis was a little spoiled by success. He’s a guy who’s quick to complain these days.”

When will Lewis Hamilton’s woes end? It doesn’t look like anybody has the answer to this question. The Briton himself is trying to find an answer to the pile-up of problems. The pace of the W14 at the British GP would give a clear direction as to where Mercedes and his career are headed.
