The definition of dominance has changed over the past few years when Ferrari experienced their own career high point with Michael Schumacher, Red Bull with Seb followed, and Mercedes in the hybrid era. However, just when everyone believed that Lewis Hamilton and the company’s reign would remain unchallenged, Max Verstappen accomplished the feat and is now in unstoppable supremacy. Despite both Hamilton and Verstappen dominating in a similar manner, an ex-Ferrari boss & manager believes that Lewis Hamilton’s dominance is still much more valuable than the Dutchman’s.

Red Bull has excelled over the past 15 months in every way. However, despite the sport being played by a drivers combo, at the Red Bull camp, Verstappen has always had support from the team owing to Milton Keynes’ special care for him, which includes giving him priority treatment and tolerating all of his actions, including defying team orders. All these comparisons appear to have prompted Peter Windsor, the former Ferrari general manager, who claimed on his YouTube channel that Hamilton’s dominance was significantly more valuable than Max Verstappen’s.

While initially hailing the Dutchman and his success, Windsor said, “Max does send a new set a new standard but then again Max is in this incredible situation where he’s got such a good team around him good car people that he loves they love him. Everything’s harmonious no teammate to worry about it’s just like watching this great racing driver become even greater because he’s got everything perfectly around him anyway all credit to him it’s not detracting from him in any way.”

Later while talking of Lewis Hamilton, getting polar opposite treatment, he added, “Lewis he’s had you know ups and downs isn’t he Alonso at McLaren and then Nico and he wanted to keep Valtteri and then 22 Abu Dhabi 21 I don’t know you know things it’s been a bit more fractious.”

While Verstappen is in full control thanks to the favorable environment and the blistering pace of RB19, one question persists in our minds. will the Red Bull champion last long enough to surpass the seven-time champion Sir Lewis Hamilton’s record for most victories? In response to it, Helmut Marko, the Red Bull Taskmaster, offers his thoughts on his cherished driver.

Red Bull taskmaster Helmut Marko opens up on Max Verstappen’s retirement threat

Helmut Marko frequently expresses his opinions in an unflinching manner. As usual, the Austrian has chosen to voice his opinion over Verstappen’s threats to quit racing after his current deal expires in 2028. Verstappen already made it plain that if the sport continues with so many races per year, it will be impossible for him to stay in the sport, which seems as an indirect threat of quitting the sport early.

The 24-race schedule for this year has also sparked worries about Verstappen’s future, which Marko addressed in a conversation with OE24. Marko said, “ Max doesn’t just say something like that. I hope he serves his contract, which runs until 2028, until the end. Who knows and maybe one day he will come and tell us: ‘Thanks, that’s it’.”

When asked later whether Max breaking multiple records will inspire him to stay in sports for a long time, Marko added, ” Let’s see how everything develops. In 2026 there will be new regulations, that could make everything different.”
