Winning Monaco is pretty special for any driver. But for 2x champion, Max Verstappen, winning in the principality last Sunday was extra special. On the one hand, after a sublime drive in tricky and changeable conditions, Verstappen extended his championship lead. What’s more? He has now surpassed 4x champion, Sebastian Vettel as the most successful Red Bull driver with his 39th victory; one better than what Vettel amassed with the Bulls.

Naturally, owing to the occasion, the Dutch lion would’ve wanted to let loose for the ‘after party’. And he did! Reports emerged after his Monaco win that the 25-year-old racing ace was seen partying till late in the night and was pretty generous with the drinks, too. And the apparent hangover hasn’t let him be even almost a week later!

Verstappen and Esteban Ocon haven’t really seen eye-to-eye in the past. The controversial 2018 Brazilian Grand Prix was the cause of it. That being said, after both of them secured a well-deserved podium, the mood was much more relaxed for the Press Conference today in Spain.

This is where Ocon took the opportunity to get one up on Verstappen. During the session, Verstappen was chirping away about boats when Ocon interjected with, “Did you get seasick?” To which Verstappen replied, “No, luckily not.” But Ocon didn’t let up, he retorted, “You look pretty pink.”

Verstappen obviously lost himself at the moment and blurted, “That’s probably still from Sunday night!”

During his time at Red Bull, Sebastian Vettel rewrote the record books many times over. And now, a decade later, Verstappen is aiming to conquer them, one by one. In Monaco, Verstappen surpassed Vettel’s 38 Red Bull victory with a sweet 39th.

After the race, when quizzed about it, Verstappen said, “If you have a good car for a while, you know, you can break these kinds of numbers. It’s great. I would have never thought I would be in this position in my career. When I grew up, I wanted to be a Formula One driver, and winning these races is amazing. It’s better than I could have ever imagined,” as quoted by Speedcafe.com.
